The Magic House Creates Sid The Science Kid Exhibit With Support From The Monsanto Fund

ST. LOUIS – This summer, The Magic House received a generous grant from the Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of Monsanto, for the Museum to create Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! Based on The Jim Henson Company’s award-winning PBS KIDS TV series Sid the Science Kid, the new exhibit will invite young scientists to explore the wonders of scientific discovery as they investigate this exciting, new traveling exhibit. Created by The Magic House in collaboration with The Jim Henson Company, the exhibit is in the development stages now, and the Museum is planning its premiere for January 2014.

“There is no better way to get children excited about science than through interaction and play,” said Deborah Patterson, the Monsanto Fund president. “The hands-on nature of Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! not only engages students, it gets them excited about exploring the science they find all around them from their backyard to the schoolyard.”

“The Magic House is honored to have the support of the Monsanto Fund in the development of our new exhibit,” said Beth Fitzgerald, The Magic House president. “Through their support we look forward to educating and inspiring kids of all ages in the wonders of science, technology, engineering and math.”

Broadcast locally on the Nine Network of Public Media, Sid the Science Kid nurtures kids’ natural curiosity about science in everyday life. Like all kids, Sid is an inquisitive youngster with a multitude of questions about the world. At the Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! kids will have the opportunity to become scientists in training as they join Sid on his many scientific adventures. Through fun, hands-on activities, kids will use scientific tools and thinking to explore the world around them. Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! will be free with Museum admission and will be at The Magic House January through August 2014. The Nine Network is the media sponsor for the exhibition.
