Global Contributions Report/2004-2005 : Science Education

Increasing Educational Resources in Alabama

Helping young people develop knowledge, integrity, and the wish to contribute to society is an important goal for education. In 2004, the Monsanto Fund gave Fairhope High School, near Monsanto's Loxley, Alabama, agronomy center, $6,600 to purchase computers and LCD projectors for the school's science education program. This equipment supplements the resources available to students in science classrooms and advances their overall learning. The equipment is used by teachers during instruction and by students who want to conduct research and make presentations.

In 2005, the Monsanto Fund gave another $5,560 to the school for additional computers and equipment. Through these gifts, students in Fairhope are exploring aspects of biology and other sciences they might not otherwise have experienced.
