  • General U.S. Grants

To encourage the growth of farming communities across the U.S. – as well as support the communities in which Monsanto employees live and work – the Monsanto Fund invests in various programs across rural America.

Every year, from January 1 through February 29 (ending at midnight CT), the Monsanto Fund accepts U.S. grant proposals – in locations outside of the St. Louis region – in the following areas:

Providing basic education support designed to improve education in farming communities around the world, including supporting schools, libraries, science centers and academic programs that enrich or supplement school programs

Meeting critical needs in communities by supporting nonprofit organizations that help with things such as food security, sanitation, access to clean water, public safety and various other local needs

  • America's Farmers Grow Rural Education

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund to help farmers positively impact their communities by supporting local school districts.  The program gives farmers the opportunity to nominate a rural public school district in their community to compete for a merit-based grant of either $10,000 or $25,000 to enhance education in the areas of math and/or science. The program is available in 1,245 counties in 39 states starting in January 2012. Nomination entries for this program must be received between 12 a.m. CT on January 6, 2012, and 11:59 p.m. CT on April 15, 2012.  To nominate a school district, please visit www.growruraleducation.com. Nominated school districts must submit their application by April 30, 2012.

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education is preceded by a successful pilot program in Illinois and Minnesota, where we gave more than $266,000 to local schools in 16 USDA Crop Reporting Districts (CRD). Winning school districts from the pilot are eligible to apply again for another grant.

Once a school district is nominated, that district will be notified and sent an invitation code to apply for a grant at www.MonsantoFund.org. School districts will have from 12 a.m. CT on January 6, 2012, to 11:59 p.m. CT on April 30, 2012, to submit their grant applications.

We will be hosting conference calls in mid February, mid March and mid April to address questions prospective grantees might have.  Please visit our FAQs page for specific dates and times.
