DATELINE AFRICA: ESTABLISHING A NEW FIRE STATION

Residents of Malawi’s second largest city, Lilongwe, have long been content with one fire station. But as the town continues to grow both in population (estimated at 860,000) and area, this fire station can no longer effectively serve its 680 square kilometer zone.



DATELINE CHINA: ACCESS ADVANCED FARMING TECHNIQUES

The Monsanto Fund’s contribution to the Jilin Project at Taojiatun Agricultural Technology Demonstration Park has helped the Park become a center for farmers to access advanced technology. Science and technology in agriculture are promoted, and demonstrations of modern agriculture are available to farmers.



DATELINE INDIA: ENHANCE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY

With the help of the Monsanto Fund, a five-year project is underway to improve the incomes of 3,000 poor families in Kalahandi district, through integrated natural resource development (INRD), improved farming systems and better market linkages.



DATELINE INDONESIA: ACCESSING CLEAN WATER

In late October 2011, Monsanto Indonesia and Habitat for Humanity Indonesia celebrated the completion of their corporate social responsibility water project in Tajinan, a small village in the East Java region of Indonesia. A ceremony was held to recognize the completion of the project with the wife of the East Java governor featured as the keynote speaker.



DATELINE PARAGUAY: PROVISION OF RESOURCES

In 2009, an alliance between Fundación Moises Bertoni (FMB), The United States Agency for International Development, and Desarrollo Agrícola del Paraguay (DAP) implemented the Alianza para el Desarrollo Sostenible de San Pedro Norte project. This project allows 500 poor families to be trained in better agricultural practices, technology development and implementation, and access to financial markets, among other activities.
